First things first
The first step an investor should take when putting together a portfolio is determine tolerance to risk. We'll discuss the important litmus test every investor needs to take before moving forward to build wealth.
Asset allocation
Once you pass the risk tolerance test, the next step should be to determine your own "secret sauce" of asset allocation. How much should you allocate to stocks? Bonds? International? Anything else?
Find your vehicle
So, you know your risk profile, how you'd like to split up your funds between stocks, bonds, etc. So, what do I invest in? Learn how to choose an appropriate stock, bond, or fund.
So, attendees should be able to leave the group understanding how professionals would begin the process of portfolio creation.
Putting it all together
We'll go through all these steps from beginning to end to build a sample portfolio. Bring your questions, comments, friends, and spouses to begin taking the next step towards creating a sound investment portfolio. If there are specific questions you'd like addressed during the meetup, please email them to [masked] beforehand. I will try to address your concerns.
